Google Plus
Google Plus is Google's social networking service. Its precursors are Buzz and Orkut. The replacement of Buzz and Orkut with Plus seems to be a competitive move in response to Facebook's great success in social networking. This is clear from the fact that Google did not only obviously copy the Facebook style, but added a lot of notable improvements to the latter. In Google Plus for example there is what is called 'groups'. With this feature, you can easily classify the people you are networking with into such as: family members, work colleagues, acquaintances, et cetera without them knowing which group you placed them in. This makes it easy to choose whom to share what with, while at the same time keeping this a well guarded personal secret.Google Plus has other irresistible features but let me just mention that it makes it also easy to find people of like interest with you by showing you featured pages according to such categories as sports, entertainment, fashion, politics, technology, etc
Google Accounts
You will get the most out of Google services by becoming a
member of Google. This requires a free account. Google Accounts is not a
specific service of the company, but it gives you a single access to many of
the services. Just a single Google account is what you need to be able to
access all the numerous services already mentioned above.
You can go specifically to the accounts page at
accounts.google.com to sign up for a free account or you can sign up for any of
the Google services and use that single account to access the others. Thus by
signing up for a Gmail, for example, you can use the same username/email and
password to access Plus, Webmaster Tools, Blogger and in fact all.
Google Groups
This is the newsgroup service of Google. A newsgroup is a
type of discussion forum in which discussants are placed into ‘groups’ whereby
each group represents people who share a common interest sports, music,
technology, religion, etc. You are free to join any group, and you can create a
new group and let people join. You can participate in a discussion on Google
Groups by means either directly (on the page) or indirectly (by emailing).
Google Groups is an interesting place to meet people of like
minds from around the world, and to show of the stuff you are made of.
Integrated with the Usenet newsgroup, Google Groups supports reading from and
posting to Usenet newsgroups. It has its own custom search engine which enables
you to search the archive of past discussions; you can rate other people’s post
and never yours; you can create a public profile and can do a lot of other
things.
Not only is Google a great place to learn, it is also a
place to show you have something to offer. That is a networking opportunity. There are also official Google groups where you can discuss different services of Google such as Gmail, Blogger and more.
