iGoogle - What's this? How does it work?

iGoogle - A Word Play

iGoogle, as it were, stands for ‘Google for I’. ‘I’ here is the first person pronoun (subject). To obey grammatical rule then, I can rephrase the above word play thus: iGoogle stands for ‘Google for me’. This is where Google Home Page
becomes personal through various customization options.

Organizer

Formerly referred to as ‘Google Personalized Home Page’, this is a service you can use to organize personal affairs. It could be called an organizer with extended features. You can use iGoogle to chat and view news, weather reports, sports updates and more; but the most attractive feature of iGoogle is arguably the gadgets.

Customizable Gadgets and Themes

With the Google Gadgets API, you can create a gadget for any use. You can also develop a gadget that does not require the use the Gadgets API on iGoogle. You can, for example, create a gadget for making a list of personal items, for displaying photos and for displaying your favorite Youtube videos, and more. You can also create a custom theme of the Google Home Page for yourself through the iGoogle Theme Editor.

iGoogle formerly had other social features that have been disabled since Plus was launched.
